Beating the Bears to the Berries!

It was an emergency,
so I used my knife,
on that lonesome mountain trail!
The bushes was loaded with berries,
and I did not have a pail.

So I butchered a plastic water bottle,
made a container that fulfilled my wish,
because ripe berries in your saddlebags,
are kind of easy to squish.

My cargo made it home safely,
my wife says my plan was a winner,
and like a hungry ol' bear,
we each wolfed down our share,
of fresh blueberry pancakes for dinner!

PS I think fresh blueberries along the trail are one of my favourite
mid-summer, on the job, perks.
